Anita Aherne is an award-winning neurodivergent speaker and business owner based in Melbourne, Australia.
In 2019, she founded Living on the Spectrum, Australia’s first national autism directory and neurodiversity hub.
Her work has been widely recognised—she was named one of Australia’s Top 50 Small Business Leaders by Inside Small Business and received a prestigious Stevie Award for International Female Entrepreneur of the Year in 2021. Alongside her professional achievements, Anita is also a proud caregiver to her two adult neurodivergent children.
Diagnosed later in life, Anita embraces the term neurodivergent with pride. She brings over three decades of experience in marketing and sales, coupled with eight years as an advocate, public speaker, and author. Having worked across both the corporate and education sectors in multiple countries, she has built strategic partnerships that drive meaningful change.
Anita’s mission is to highlight the power of diversity and inclusion to improve life outcomes for all. Through her speaking, training, and advocacy, she shares her story to inspire understanding, challenge misconceptions, and create workplaces and communities where everyone can thrive.
